In this presentation, we will give an architectural overview of the next-generation IBM Common Cloud Stack (CCS) based on open standards. The CCS is the technology behind IBM's cloud portfolio, such as SmartCloud Entry for automated IT delivery, SmartCloud Provisioning to automate optimized workloads, and SmartCloud Orchestrator to orchestrate services and service delivery across multiple environments and domains. The product version supports the OASIS TOSCA standard. IBM and SAP cooperate on TOSCA-based SAP deployments. SAP provides TOSCA-based SAP patterns that will run on the IBM SmartCloud Orchestrator. We will present the actual project status.

This session provides guidelines to design and manage SAP on the VMware virtual platform. Topics include: - Sizing and configuring virtual SAP landscapes for CPU and storage - Addressing SAP's single computing unit (SCU) performance on virtual - Performance management using VMware's vCenter Operations Manager. This has Integration to CCMS, databases and vSphere, and enables single pane of glass monitoring from the SAP application down to the hypervisor level . This session will present a memory scale-out solution that liberates SAP HANA, or similar memory demanding enterprise applications, from the classical limitation of underlying physical servers. The solution relies on key enabling technology developed within SAP. It allows applications or hypervisors to go beyond the boundaries of the underlying hardware, and effectively enables a ?uid transformation from commodity sized physical nodes to very large virtual instances, in order to meet the rapidly growing demand of memory intensive applications.
